In fact, the Finn will be making his season debut tonight as Patrick Roy and the New York Islanders will be visiting the Bell Center.
During the morning practice, Patrik Laine was placed on the second line by head coach Martin St. Louis.
According to Stu Cowan from The Montreal Gazette the 26-year old forward was practicing along with Juraj Slafkovsky and Kirby Dach.
Here were the trios and duos earlier today:
It will be interesting to see if the return of Laine will positively impact the Habs, but also if it will help Slafkovsky and Dach as both have been struggling since the beginning of the season.
The Habs will look to go back to stop their 2-game losing streak against Patrick Roy's team. The New York Islanders have been struggling as well since October as they've lost 3 of their last 4 games and have a 9-10-6 record in 25 games played.
Drafted 2nd overall in 2016 by the Winnipeg Jets, Laine was acquired by Kent Hughes with a 2nd round pick last August in exchange for Jordan Harris.
In 480 games played in the NHL so far, Laine scored 204 times and added 184 assists for a total of 388 points.
He was placed on the injured reserve during the preseason when he sustained his knee injury following a contact with Cedric Pare of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Do you think Laine's return will positively impact the Habs? Are you excited to see him play in the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge?
