His play since October 2024 gave him the opportunity to be rewarded as he'll be representing Canada during the 4 Nations Face-Off in February along players such as Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon. During the tournament, he'll be assisted by goaltenders Jordan Binnington and Adin Hill.
It's often mentioned that goaltenders are strange creatures with a lot of superstitions and funny habits. Most of the time, it's rare to see goaltenders change certain pieces of gear in the middle of the campaign. Well, if you missed it on Saturday, when the Habs faced the Dallas Stars, Montembeault was wearing a completely new mask.
A new work of art for Samuel Montembeault
In fact, during their last game, the 28-year-old played with a new mask painted by artist Jordon Bourgeault from Calgary.
Bourgeault was also previously known for painting one of Carey Price's masks a few years ago. For those who don't remember, here was the mask he wore for some games in 2021:
Well, it appears that Bourgeault was given the opportunity to paint another Habs' goaltender mask as Montembeault's new one is completely stunning and full of little details!
On a video posted on Instagram via his account, the artist presents his work of art done on Montembeault's mask.
You can watch the full video here:
When he presented his mask to the medias, Montembeault explained he wanted to honore Habs' past goaltenders Ken Dryden and Jacques Plante. He also added little details to honore Patrick Roy.
On the back of his mask, the plate has a design of both his dogs. The less we can say is that Montembeault's newest mask is full of colours and is pretty impressive with all the details done, even on his cage. We, now, need to hope he'll succeed as much wearing his new piece of gear!
