Emil Heineman to miss 3 to 4 weeks
Since the beginning of the 2024-25 season, we have been able to witness some good hockey from the Montreal Canadiens' rookies.
In fact, Lane Hutson has been more than impressive since October. He currently has 32 points in 42 games and is leading all the rookies in points, 2 points in front of Matvei Michkov.
Since joining the Habs at the end of December, goaltender Jakub Dobes has also been impressive. In 3 outings so far, he has 3 wins, a GAA of 0.97 and a efficiency percentage of 0.959.
However, there's another rookie player who seems to be forgotten: Emil Heineman. The 23-year-old forward is having a great first season with the club and is an interesting discovery for the organization.
This morning though, the Canadiens announced the Swedish winger would have to miss some time as he got injured in an incident involving a car while he was walking.
Therefore, the #51 has sustained an upper-body injury and is expected to miss 3 to 4 weeks of activity.
Despite the circumstances, we're more than glad to know that Heineman is still in good condition. We wish him a fast recovery.
Following this announcement, we were waiting to see if the Habs would recall a player from the Laval Rocket. As reported by Renaud Lavoie from TVA Sports, the organization didn't proceed to any recall which means Michael Pezzetta will be playing tonight against Utah.
For Alex Newhook, who didn't practice yesterday due to illness, no update was given regarding his status for tonight's matchup.
In 41 games this season, Heineman has recorded 10 goals and 7 assists for a total of 17 points, which place him 7th for the most points and 3rd for the most goals among all rookies. Only Matvei Michkov and Macklin Celebrini have more goals than him with 13 each.
