Cayden Primeau's recent performances for the Montreal Canadiens have raised concerns about his future with the team.

As seen on Marqueur.com, despite some people defending his efforts, his numbers tell a troubling story and in back-to-back starts this week, Cayden Primeau posted save percentages of .875 against the Columbus Blue Jackets and a .828 versus the Boston Bruins.

Martin St-Louis, the Canadiens' head coach, noted that Cayden Primeau wasn't solely responsible for the goals allowed and while that may be partially true, a reliable goalie is expected to make important save, which he wasn't.

The distinction between an NHL-level goaltender and one who struggles lies in the ability to save more than expected based on advanced metrics.

Cayden Primeau's performance in advanced statistics is alarming as he ranks dead last in the league in Goals Saved Above Average (GSAA).

This metric compares his performance to an average NHL goaltender.

His Goals Saved Above Expected (GSAx) differential sits at -6.57 and is making him one of the worst in the NHL.

Cayden Primeau's 4.45 goals-against average (GAA) and .844 save percentage make it nearly impossible for the Canadiens to win.

For context, a team would need to score at least five goals per game to have a chance with him in net.

Kent Hughes will likely need to address this soon. and a potential solution could involve recalling Connor Hughes from Laval who has a solid 2.33 GAA and .915 save percentage in the AHL.

Would you like to see Hughes in the lineup in the next days?
