It has been revealed by several sources that the New York organization has placed veteran Chris Kreider on the trade market.
We are talking here about a player who has scored 52, 36 and 39 goals in the last three seasons. This is obviously an important development in the NHL.
The reason behind the Blue Shirts's desire to part with Kreider remains rather unclear. However, Renaud Lavoie recently revealed a key detail that could explain the team's decision.
The TVA Sports journalist stated today on BPM Sports that the motivation to trade the 33-year-old forward stems from an incident that occurred during a game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Lavoie specifies that a breakup occurred between Kreider and the Rangers after this meeting, due to the return of Jim Ramsay, now director of sports medicine and head therapist of the Canadiens.
Ramsay was completely ignored by the New York organization, despite more than 30 years of service within the team.
This lack of recognition sparked strong reactions, notably from Kreider, one of the leaders of the Rangers, who seemed visibly annoyed by the absence of tribute or greeting for Ramsay upon his return to Madison Square Garden.
The number 20 denounced the inaction of his organization by refusing to appear before the media.
Another highlight of this story: Rangers captain Jacob Trouba also supported his teammate and chose to boycott the media as well.
Today, we learn that in addition to Kreider, the defenseman is also on the trade market.
It seems that the Rangers management has a long memory and a marked sensitivity, to the point where GM Chris Drury would be ready to part with both players soon.
This is a rather peculiar situation.
