The Laval Rocket announced today that forwards Brandon Gignac and Luke Tuch were injured this past weekend.
Tuch will be out for the next three to four weeks.
Gignac has had to undergo further testing to determine the severity of his lower-body injury, and a recent update confirms that he will be sidelined for four to six weeks.
This is obviously very bad news for Pascal Vincent's team, which is losing two key players while the team is off to a great start to the season with an impressive 13-3-1 record after 17 games.
The Habs' farm club is in first place in its division, a remarkable feat, especially considering that the team failed to qualify for the playoffs last year.
It is important to remember that the Canadiens recalled Joshua Roy this morning, depriving the Rocket of one of its best offensive players, in addition to the two injured players.
These three absences represent a major challenge for the Laval team. Pascal Vincent will have to be creative to fill these losses in his lineup.
While the CH needs reinforcements to reinvigorate its attack, Roy's recall could pose a problem for the Rocket.
It is legitimate to wonder if this was the right time to make this move, especially with the imminent return of Patrik Laine.
It remains to be seen whether the Quebec forward will stay with the big club for an extended period or if he will quickly return to Laval.
