The organization just announced a recall following an injury
The Laval Rocket have provided an update on the status of their goaltender Jakub Dobes following his lower-body injury sustained in Friday's game against the Toronto Marlies.
Fortunately, the injury is not as severe as initially feared and the 23-year-old goalie will be evaluated daily.
While the exact nature of the injury is still unknown, this update suggests that Jakub Dobes may return to action soon for the Laval Rocket.
Jakub Dobes has been impressive so far this season by posting a record of 8 wins, 3 losses and 1 overtime loss.
He currently holds a 2.55 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage and his strong performances has been crucial for Laval.
Given that Jakub Dobes is likely to miss at least the next game, the Rocket have called up Hunter Jones from the Trois-Rivières Lions in the ECHL.
Hunter Jones is a second-round pick by the Minnesota Wild in 2019 and he will serve as backup to Connor Hughes during Dobes' absence.
Jones has primarily played in the AHL and ECHL since turning pro and he's off to a solid start this season with the Lions and recorded the four wins and three overtime losses.
He has a 3.11 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage and this recall presents a valuable opportunity for Jones to show his skills at the AHL level.
While the Rocket hope Jakub Dobes returns quickly, Hunter Jones' recall ensures they have reliable depth in front of the net.
In the meantime, Hunter Jones will look to seize this chance to contribute and gain experience at a higher level.
