Huge news from Martin St. Louis in the case of David Reinbacher
During a recent press conference, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis shared an interesting update regarding David Reinbacher.
As you know, the 2023 fifth overall pick suffered a left knee injury during training camp and is expected to be sidelined for another three to four months.
Despite his injury, the Austrian defenseman has been frequently seen around the team recently.
Like what was done with Kirby Dach last year, the coaching staff wants to ensure David Reinbacher continues his development, even if he can't be on the ice with his teammates.
This is why the 20-year-old participates in the Canadiens' morning meetings with the coaching staff.
This long absence will negatively impact David Reinbacher's progression but if he can keep learning during the injury, it will for sure help him.
"Even David Reinbacher is in all the morning meetings with the coaches. You want to keep these guys involved. The team's system and mindset - you don't want them to wonder, 'What are we doing?' Watching the game from above offers a different perspective. When they attend these meetings, they know where we are and what we're focusing on. It helps them integrate back with the team when they return.»
- Martin St. Louis
Let's not forget that many scouts viewed David Reinbacher as the best defenseman in the 2023 draft class and everybody can't wait to see him play regularly with the Habs.
Since arriving in North America, the 2023 first-round pick has recorded two goals and three assists in 11 games with Laval Rocket in the AHL while maintaining an impressive +6 rating.
Do you think David Reinbacher will play for the Habs next season?
