A solid Quebecer is targeted as an acquisition for the Canadiens and the return would be Christian Dvorak
A potential trade between the Nashville Predators and the Montreal Canadiens involving Alexandre Carrier and Christian Dvorak could address needs for both teams.
According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Predators seek a center to solidify their bottom-six forward group and Alexandre Carrier who is a steady defensive defenseman may be the piece Nashville is willing to move in pursuit of that goal.
«No secret that the Nashville Predators need to add a center to that group,» Seravalli said. «You have to give to get I'm told that Alex Carrier, the defenseman in the first year of a three-year x $3.75 million deal has been a name that's been talked about.»
For the Predators, acquiring Christian Dvorak would provide them with a reliable two-way center who excels in faceoffs and penalty killing.
With two years remaining on his contract at $4.45 million per season, Christian Dvorak's cap hit is manageable if Nashville moves Alexandre Carrier's $3.75 million salary.
Alexandre Carrier would bring much-needed defensive stability on the Canadiens' side with rumors that veteran defenseman David Savard could be traded.
Alexandre Carrier has shown his defensive strength, particularly when paired with Roman Josi and his contract is a reasonable fit at $3.75 million for the next two seasons.
«As the Preds have gotten off to this slow start, we've heard Barry Trotz talk seriously about some potential changes coming,» Seravalli said. «It could certainly be on that trade route as they continue to look for a center.»
While the trade appears mutually beneficial, some challenges remain because of Dvorak's lack of offensive production and some may question whether Alexandre Carrier's value exceeds that of a depth center.
And you? do you think Alexandre Carrier is a great value for Christian Dvorak in a trade 1 vs 1 ?
