We were eagerly awaiting Lane Hutson with the Montreal Canadiens and he is responding very well to his first steps in the NHL.

If there were any doubts about his move to the American League (Laval Rocket), they are now dispelled, as Lane Hutson is being used a lot by Martin St-Louis and he already has 10 points in 16 games.

Where his usage is starting to bother is on the power play. Lane is a quarterback, no doubt about it, and he will lead the first wave in the near future.

That Martin St-Louis is leaving this role to Michael Matheson this season is correct in my opinion, but the problem is that he is not making any changes even in games where it is not working.

Monday afternoon, the Canadiens were in Buffalo and there are two players who were playing bad games, Cayden Primeau and Michael Matheson.

MSL is increasingly trying to do "hard coaching", which consists of punishing players for their bad actions, but he did not do it with Matheson.

Logic would have wanted Lane Hutson, who was having a strong game, to be used on the first PP during this game. That was not the case.

Anthony Martineau, who follows the Canadiens on a daily basis for TVA Sports, denounced this fact and I agree with him.

The Canadiens still won, but it was close. Lane Hutson deserved to play shifts on the first power play to help the Canadiens win and to give Matheson, who really wasn't playing well, a break.

I'm not one to argue with Martin St-Louis' decisions, but I don't understand this one. Let's hope he learns and makes better decisions in the future, because it could have cost the Canadiens the game.
