During his press conference last night, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis shared some excellent news regarding Mike Matheson.

As you know, a few minutes before the start of the game, the organization announced that the 30-year-old defenseman would not be able to take part in the match against Utah HC, due to a lower-body injury.

It was finally the young Jayden Struble, who scored the Habs' first goal, who took his place in the defensive brigade.

However, this rather unexpected announcement worried the fans, who were strongly hoping that Mike Matheson, who has 13 points in 20 games this season, would not be seriously injured.

Fortunately, Martin St-Louis has confirmed that the defenseman will participate in the three-game road trip as the Montreal Canadiens prepare to face the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins.

No need to say, the fact that he is traveling with the team is certainly very reassuring and suggests that his injury is not that serious.

We will have to wait for an official announcement from the organization to find out if he will be able to rejoin Martin St-Louis' lineup, but don't be surprised if Mike Matheson finds his place on the Canadiens' blue line tonight.

Since joining the Habs, the Pointe-Claire native has recorded simply exceptional offensive statistics with a collection of 20 goals and 89 assists (109 points) in 150 games.
