Ivan Demidov is adding another game to his streak of 2-points per game
Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov continues to shine with SKA St. Petersburg by extending his impressive production streak in the KHL.
As reported by The Hockey News, he is now skating on the top line and Ivan Demidov recorded two points in SKA's 5-2 victory over Vityaz HC which is marking his fourth consecutive game with at least two points and his sixth straight with a goal.
In the game, Demidov assisted on SKA's opening goal and began the team's comeback, and later scored the insurance goal to bring the score to 4-2.
He finished with 14:49 of ice time, three shots, and a remarkable 24 completed passes out of 26 attempts, while covering 4.3 kilometers during the game.
The 18-year-old forward has been dominant since being promoted to the top line, with 11 points and a plus-seven rating over his last six games and his consistent ice time, averaging over 14 minutes per game during this stretch has helped a lot hi production.
In 40 games this season, Ivan Demidov recorded 31 points, just three shy of team leader Sergei Plotnikov, despite averaging significantly less ice time with 11:31 per game compared to Plotnikov's 19+ minutes.
With 27 games remaining in the KHL's record-long 68-game season, Ivan Demidov is on pace to surpass Matvei Michkov's 41 points from his final KHL season.
Demidov's efforts were recognized this morning as he was named both the Forward of the Week and Rookie of the Week in the KHL.
SKA St. Petersburg is well-positioned to make the playoffs which is meaning that Ivan Demidov's season could extend into late May.
Canadiens fans are eager for his NHL debut but they may need to wait a little bit, but his rapid development suggests he'll be worth it.
