It's over for the duo Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield
Martin St. Louis made major changes to the Canadiens' lineup during Sunday's practice, temporarily separating Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki.
Following a sixth straight loss to the Maple Leafs, Montreal held a practice in Toronto ahead of Monday's game against the Sabres in Buffalo.
For the shuffle, Juraj Slafkovsky and Kirby Dach joined Suzuki, while Caufield was paired with Jake Evans and Alex Newhook on the second line.
The trio of Josh Anderson, Brendan Gallagher and Christian Dvorak remained unchanged, and Emil Heineman, Lucas Condotta and Joel Armia made up the fourth line.
Because of the losing streak, the Canadiens are now tied for last in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks, with a league-low minus-23 differential.
Despite the ranking, St. Louis was reassuring and made a point of reminding everyone that the season is still long.
"We're disappointed with our position, but we have 67 games left." -Martin St-Louis
According to St-Louis, the Caufield-Suzuki duo should soon be reformed to find their chemistry on the ice.
Aged 23, Caufield has collected 11 points, including 10 goals, this season, in 15 games, with the Habs.
As for Suzuki, he has collected 13 points in 15 games.
