Veteran defenseman David Savard will return to action after missing four games due to an upper-body injury.
David Savard has been for the Canadiens' blue line this season by recording 10 points in 35 games with a +1 rating.
His return is expected to help Montreal's defensive, especially against a Dallas team known for its powerful offensive.
The status of forward Patrik Laine is less clear since the Finnish winger has missed the past four games due to flu-like symptoms and remains a game-time decision.
Despite his absence, Patrik Laine has been productive when healthy by scoring 10 points in 13 games this season.
Martin St-Louis has indicated that a final decision on Laine's availability will be made closer to the warm-up at 6:30 PM, right before the game.
While the Canadiens would be happy to see from Patrik Laine in the lineup, rushing him back could risk other setbacks, so if he's unable to play, Montreal will need to adjust their lineup.
Montreal sits just one point shy of a playoff spot with 43 points in 41 games and they are facing a critical test tonight.
And this is Samuel Montembeault who will start against the Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger and it will be a duel that could be a big pivot given the Canadiens' tough schedule ahead.
Stay tuned for updates before the puck drop against the Dallas Stars!
