During his appearance on TSN last night, informant Chris Johnston gave a very interesting update regarding Nick Suzuki's candidacy for the Four Nations Showdown.

As you know, the Canadian team has already confirmed that Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Cale Makar, Brad Marchand and Brayden Point will be part of the 23 invited players.

However, Jim Nill (general manager), Don Sweeney (associate general manager), Kyle Dubas (director of player personnel) and Julien Brisebois (assistant general manager) will have important decisions to make in the coming days, given that Team Canada is set to unveil its final roster on December 2.

Knowing that there is a lot of talent in Canada, it will be really interesting to see the lineup that will be selected to participate in this brand new competition, which will take place from February 12 to 20.

Two Canadiens players with Team Canada?

Of course, as Montreal Canadiens fans, we all hope that a Canadiens player gets the opportunity to represent the Canadian team.

Even if the chances are rather slim, everything suggests that Nick Suzuki and Samuel Montembeault could potentially wear the Team Canada uniform in a few months, and this, live from the Bell Centre.

According to information from Chris Johnston, who has excellent sources on this file, Nick Suzuki would be in a hot fight with Travis Konecny, Robert Thomas and Tom Wilson for one of the last available positions.

Now that's interesting!

Hopefully, Nick Suzuki, who has three goals and three assists (6 points) in his last four games, will be able to continue this momentum in the coming days, in order to make his case to the Canadian leadership.

It will also be interesting to see what happens with Samuel Montembeault, who is aiming for a position in front of Team Canada's goal.

Since the start of the regular season, the Montreal Canadiens captain has recorded 7 goals and 12 assists (19 points) in 19 games. For his part, the Habs' number 35 has a record of 6-8-1, with a goals-against average of 2.85 and a save percentage of 0.906.
