The Montreal Canadiens secured a 4-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings last night, and once again, Jake Evans delivered an excellent performance and it's raising questions about his future with the team.

As reported by HabsFanatics, Jake Evans is quietly becoming one of the most consistent players on the roster and he was pivotal in the win.

"Huge win for the Habs. I love seeing the guys fight like that. Shoutout to Jake Evans, easily my first star of the game," remarked HFTV, reflecting the growing sentiment around his indispensability.

As Evans continues to shine, Kent Hughes faces a significant decision since Evans is in the final year of his $1.7 million contract and has a high trade value.

But, his contributions to Martin St. Louis' lineup make trading him increasingly difficult to justify.

DansLesCoulisses pointed out:

«And let's just say this season, Evans' resume is truly excellent and keeps improving, which may force the Habs' management to make a very big decision.

Indeed, since Evans is in the final year of his contract ($1.7M annually), he becomes an easy player to trade with high market value.» - DansLesCoulisses

At the trade deadline, Jake Evans could fetch a significant return and particularly for a team in need of a versatile forward with leadership qualities.

Yet, his contributions on and off the ice are equally valuable to a rebuilding Canadiens team seeking stability and a winning culture.

Based on last night's performance, it's pretty clear that Evans has cemented his role as one of the team's most reliable players and moving him now could disrupt the positive momentum he brings to the roster.

And you, do you think we should trade him or build the team with him?
