Martin St. Louis will be able to count on an important asset on the blue line for tonight's matchup.

In fact, as announced earlier today by TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie, the Montreal Canadiens have confirmed that defenseman Kaiden Guhle would make his return in the Habs' lineup.

The 22-year old defenseman missed last game against the Nashville Predators due to illness.

It will be interesting to see who will remain in the stands for tonight's matchup. Jayden Struble or Justin Barron could possibly the defenseman left off the roster against the Capitals.

In 20 games this season, Guhle scored twice and added 4 assists for 6 points. Drafted 16th overall in 2020 by the Habs, the Canadien-born has played 134 games so far with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge and has 46 points.

The Canadiens also announced that goaltender Samuel Montembeault would be back between the pipes to stop Washington's offensive.

After being named on Team Canada for the 4 Nations Face-Off, the 28-year old stopped all 29 shots faced in route for his 3rd shutout of the season.

In 20 games played, Montembeault has a 8-10-2 record, a GAA of 2,82 and and efficiency of 0,906.

The Washington Capitals will be at the Bell Center tonight as they won't be able to count on their captain's presence. Alex Ovechkin has yet to fully recover from his leg injury sustained a few weeks ago.
