After recently returning to the ice, Laine seems to be on his way to getting back into shape, and his return could come sooner than expected.
As a reminder, according to information reported by TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie, a possible return toward the end of November was increasingly plausible for the 26-year-old Finn, if, of course, there is no setback in his progress.
However, David Calabretta of The Fourth Period, has just confirmed that a return to play is imminent.
Here is what he revealed:
This news is encouraging for fans and the team, because Laine's return could bring new energy into Martin St. Louis' lineup.
This is certainly the best-case scenario, while almost everyone was more realistically anticipating a return to play in January.
Laine, 26, is 6-foot-5 and weighs 208 pounds. He has 388 points, including 204 goals, in 480 career NHL games.
Although he hasn't played regularly in more than a year, his arrival in the lineup will strengthen the Canadiens' attack and provide additional offensive options for the Habs, especially on the power play.
In the meantime, we wish him a full rehabilitation and look forward to seeing him back on the ice with the rest of the team.
