Cayden Primeau is set to make his first start of the season with the Laval Rocket tonight, marking an important opportunity for the 24-year-old netminder.

As reported by Habs Fanatics, this announcement comes after Primeau was waived by the Montreal Canadiens and cleared waivers that made him joined Pascal Vincent's squad in Laval.

The move to Laval offers Primeau a chance to regain his form after a challenging stretch in his career.

Despite a standout performance in the 2022 AHL playoffs, where he showed his potential as a star goaltender, Cayden Primeau has struggled to maintain consistency and during the 2022-23 AHL season, he posted a 19-15-6 record, a 3.04 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.

His return to Laval follows the Canadiens' decision to give Jakub Dobes his NHL debut, where Dobes impressed by shutting out the Florida Panthers and this performance has shifted the spotlight to Primeau, who now competes with Connor Hughes for the Rocket's starting role.

The Laval Rocket will face the Abbotsford Canucks tonight and Pascal Vincent has not ruled out the possibility of Primeau playing both weekend games with back-to-back opportunities that could help the young goaltender rebuild his confidence and reestablish himself as a dominant force in the AHL.

Fans will closely watch how Cayden Primeau performs, as his development remains a critical storyline for the Canadiens' goaltending depth chart and with his track record of excelling under pressure in the playoffs, there is optimism that he can refind his form and contribute significantly to the Rocket this season.

Further updates on Primeau's performance and his role in Laval will follow as the weekend unfolds.
