Regarding Jake Evans, his value on the market is simply going higher with the amazing season he's having at the moment.
In fact, the 28-year-old forward is on his way to get some career high statistics. In 40 games so far, he scored 10 goals and added 13 assists for 23 points, 4th leader in points for the Habs.
Evans previously scored 13 goals in 2021-22, season he also recorded his career high in points with 29 in 72 games. With half the season remaining, we surely can state that Evans will beat those statistics by the end of the campaign.
According to TSN's insider Pierre LeBrun, Evans has been drawing interest for many NHL teams. Following his appearance at the podcast "Commission athlétique", LeBrun mentioned the New Jersey Devils are highly interested in acquiring Evans.
However, LeBrun specified that if the Canadiens are truly in the playoff race by the trade deadline, it would be hard to see them selling Jake Evans to other teams.
The Toronto native could be a perfect fit for a team looking for depth. He also an hard working player who gives it all on the ice night after night.
Evans currently leads the Habs in the plus minus with a differential of +7. Center and right-handed, he has a lot of interesting characteristics for a contender team and could be more than helpful during a playoff run.
Despite all the rumors, there is still a big possibility to see Evans stay with the Habs. His contract might expire at the end of the season, but a new contract with the Habs is far from impossible.
If you were Kent Hughes, would you use Evans' value on the market to gain assets or would you renew his contract?
